General Furniture Care Tips:

For best results, treat spills immediately before they become ingrained to preserve the beauty and longevity of your furniture.

A few basic tips can add to the longevity of your furniture:

  • Rotate and flip your cushions regularly to evenly distribute wear. Try to do this once a week.
  • All fibers will lose their "loft" and the cushions may appear to be sagging or crushing. It is imperative that you "fluff" your cushions in order to bring back the loft and more evenly distribute the fibers. This should be done once a week.
  • Don't expose your furniture to full sunlight for long lengths of time. Direct sunlight will cause color fading and fabric deterioration. Wood furniture will dry out and crack if over exposed.
  • Keep your furniture away from extreme temperature or moisture changes.
  • Dab spills with a soft, clean, white cloth or absorbent paper towel. If possible, do not let spills dry. Follow the recommended cleaning methods as described below for the type of cleaning codes specified. Usually the recommended cleaning codes can be found on the deck tag under your seat cushions.
  • S-Dry Clean - with a solvent based cleaner only
  • WS - Wet Shampoo
  • SW - Shampoo Dry Foam - can be cleaned with water-based cleaning agents, foam or solvent based cleaner - do not saturate.
  • X - Dry Clean Only
  • W - Wet Clean - with a water-based cleaner only - distilled or bottle water is recommended. Do not saturate and blot dry to avoid leaving a water ring.
  • Test all treatments on a concealed part of the furniture piece first. Dab the any spills with a soft, clean, white cloth or absorbent paper towel. Do not apply solvent directly onto the stain, pour onto a clean cloth. Clean stains using a circular motion working from the outside inwards.
  • Remove dust and dry stains with vacuum cleaner or a soft brush attachment every 10-15 days. All upholstered furniture should be vacuumed frequently to remove dust and dirt before it has a chance to work its way deep into the fiber structure. Dust and dirt can weaken fabrics and shorten their useful life. If furniture has removable seat cushions, be sure to vacuum under them also. *Do not remove the fabric from the seat cushion cores when cleaning. You may not be able to get the cushion back into the casing.
  • Leather upholstery should be dusted regularly and wiped down with a damp cloth. Never use any thing that is not recommended by the manufacturer to clean your leather. Using a soft cloth to buff the leather after cleaning will bring out the patina and add luster to the leather.
  • Wood Furniture - Never allow liquids of any kind to remain on wood surfaces. Moisture will cause veneer to lift and crack, and solid woods to crack, swell and discolor. Never use any cleaner with ammonia, like Windex; it will chemically attack the finish. Use Coasters before placing a beverage on any wood surface including dining tables, coffee tables, end tables, nightstands, etc. If you have doors that do not align properly, or drawers that bind, try to level the furniture. Wood furniture is manufactured to set level from side to side and front to back. Some furniture is equipped with adjustable feet or you can use wood shims or something similar to level the furniture
